Schedule Settings

The schedule can be set to Daily, Weekly, Monthly or disabled (Don't use schedule). By default, Desktop Lock doesn't use the schedule to auto-lock (and optionally auto-unlock) the system.

The schedule is determined by date (every day for daily; specific days for weekly/monthly) and time (hours).

A selected hour will lock the system. When Desktop Lock detects that the current hour falls within the selected hours of the chosen days, it automatically locks the system.

Auto-unlock at unselected hours

An unselected hour does not automatically imply that the system will unlock, unless this option is enabled.

If this option is enabled, Desktop Lock will automatically unlock the system during the unselected hours.

If this option is disabled, Desktop Lock will do nothing during the unselected hours. In this scenario, unselected hours effectively mean "do not auto-lock the system during these hours if the system has not already been locked."

Schedule uses internet time

To prevent the schedule setting from being bypassed by altering the system time, you may enable this option. By using internet time, the schedule setting will no longer rely on the system time; instead, it will use internet time, which cannot be altered as it is sourced from remote servers.

Typically, there is no need to add or modify time servers. Simply enabling this option is sufficient.

Tip: schedule doesn't use daylight saving time (DST)

Using DST may lead to complications in schedule setting, as even a limited user can enable or disable DST.

If your time zone currently observes DST, please configure the schedule using standard time. For example, if 9:00 AM DST corresponds to 8:00 AM standard time, and you wish to lock the system at 9:00 AM DST, you should set it to 8:00 AM instead.

Tip: schedule versus manually locking/unlocking

Consider the following situation: the system has been locked according to a schedule, and you then use the unlock hotkey to unlock it within the same hour. What will occur? Will the schedule re-lock your system?

Alternatively, if the system was unlocked by the schedule, and you manually lock it within the same hour by clicking Lock Now in the main window or using the lock hotkey, will the schedule unlock your system again?

In short: no, not within the same hour.

The schedule only executes lock operations at the start of each designated hour (and unlock operations at the start of each unselected hour if it is configured to auto-unlock during those hours). If you perform the opposite action afterward, the schedule will not reassess, and the system will remain in its current state until the next hour arrives.

This behavior is logical; otherwise, once the schedule is activated, you would be unable to manually unlock or lock the system.
