Admin Password

As an access control product, the admin password is the most important setting of Desktop Lock. It protects the configuration against unauthorized modifications and prevents the software from being uninstalled. Additionally, it may function as a substitute for the unlock password.

There are 2 different paths to set or change the admin password:

Click ⏷ on the top-right of the main window, then select Admin Password.
Click Configure in the main window, then click Advanced to navigate to the advanced page, and then click Admin Password.

Admin password is a global setting that should be in the main menu. However, to maintain continuity for existing users who may be accustomed to the previous versions, the new version retains it in that location.

The 2 paths for changing admin password operate differently:

Any modifications made within "Desktop Lock Settings" including the admin password, will not be saved until you click OK to confirm. If you changed the admin password there, you must click OK in "Desktop Lock Settings" to save the change alongside other changes.

Conversely, changing it directly in the main window will be saved immediately upon clicking OK in the "Set Admin Password" window to confirm.
